British Council

Browsing over there, early March, I see an spot about an Universities Fair associated to the British Council this month (March).

Sincerely I wasn't expecting this to opportunity to happen. So is this no expectation, that a couple of weeks I had used my free day in an interview for an American visa. By the way Mexicans need to issue a visa in order to an immigration officer determines if you are able to enter US. It is mandatory even if you only are going for shopping a couple hours.

I had some problems with the Human Resources Department, they were really wondering to make me loose one week of my last year vacations. Fortunately, my dear boss went there, to the hr dept, and leave a letter for reviewing my case. I had good news after a week.

Now I was able to go to the British Council Fair. But there was several options.

So I was inside the dilemma of going to Mexico City or to Monterrey. Going to Monterrey will let me meet me with my sisters. The another option was meeting my cousins.

By the end of this month I was going to see all of them. But one week before, I saw a friend who lives in Mexico City, my cousins lives in Toluca, a few kilometers from the exhibitors. He invited me to visit him. This way I may go to the British Council and my cousins.

I may be inside a geek family enjoying wonderful internet projects already working. But that's worth of another post.

I thought it was an exhibit who requires several days to cover it. Unfortunately because I was seeking a more specific study group, I was able to discard mostly all universities in one shot and even the day before arriving. So I got an interview that day with only a few.

They were University of Glasgow, York University, Imperial College London, Newcastle University, Manchester University, Warwick University, University of Edinburgh, and maybe a couple more.

Only the University of Glasgow and Newcastle really got what I wanted.

Thanks I read the ad a week or more before the event. I was able to get personalized interviews.

My first interview was with Coventry University. What a great university. Excellent international department. And the opportunity to work while studying and after. They usually help their students. Their international department was present with a Spanish person. This is a plus.

My second interview was with NewCastle University. I really loved the presentation. I got in love with the city and I was really wondering to study in there. The officer gave me a contact that unfortunately wasn't available to answer my questions.

I searched by my own and I just could get an offer for a Master. Since Conacyt usually doesn't offer sponsorships for this, I was a bit sad. :'(

I must mention that I really enjoyed the talk with this guy. The most important was that I understood every single word he told me, just like with the officer of Glasgow.

Finally, Bath University. A roman like campus. This one was requiring a greater toefl score. Indeed, sometimes I barely could understand the officer. I don't know why. The both officers from NewCastle and Glasgow are from the north. It is supposed to be different and more difficult to understand.

Well, this university really have a big department on what I want to study. Sadly, no people answered my emails.

After all, the events was a great installment and had a very good assistance. I really liked to be understood by people of unknown places speaking really cool accents, and of course, a lot of chicks.

But, which university could I contact further? Well, none of them. But something very wonderful happened. I received and email from University of Glasgow for contacting a free adviser. They really kick ass, you must contact one.
